ALBANY TWILIGHT LEAGUE NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR 8th FRANCHISE; LEAGUE ANNOUNCES ELECTION OF 2001-02 OFFICERS

ALBANY, NY – The Albany Twilight League announced this week it will now accept applications for consideration of an eighth franchise into the 71-year old league.

Interested franchises should submit an application by February 25th and include the following information on the franchise: team name, complete roster, coaching staff, current league affiliation, years in existence, overall team record the last five years, current facility and facility availability, franchise mission statement, and why the franchise should be considered in the Twilight League.  All applications should be mailed to Bill Miles, President, 8 Criswood Drive, Albany, NY, 12205.  Any questions regarding the application can be directed to League Publicity Coordinator, Joe Altieri at (518) 357-4250.

The league currently consists of seven teams: League Champion All-Stars Academy, State Champion Albany Senators, Davies A.C., Colonie Raiders, Mama’s Pizza, Rensselaer Honda, and Troy Haymakers.  The three Twilight League teams that qualified for the Upper New York State Tournament—Albany Senators, Colonie Raiders, and Davies AC—all finished first, second and third, respectively, in last year’s nine-team tournament.

The league also announced the election of its 2001-02 officers.  Bill Miles was re-elected as President for his third term while Bruce Barkevich moved from Secretary to Vice President for his first term.  Ben DiBiase was elected as Treasurer and Steve Heiser was elected as Secretary.  Also, Joe Altieri was elected as League Publicity Coordinator and Tom Yovine was elected as Special Events Coordinator. Sean McGuirk was re-hired as Web Master.
